A Summer Camp collaboration between Hardin-Simmons University and other local Big Country School Districts benefitting Title I scholars from K-8th grades.
Serving scholars from diverse cultures, varied economic levels, and a range of academic backgrounds in a positive and productive climate.
Dr. Renee Collins, Associate Dean of the College of Human Sciences and Educational Studies at HSU, and Abilene ISD administrators, with the support from the AISD curriculum administrators, plan the camps based upon the scholars’ needs in reading, science, and social studies.
All Abilene ISD scholars participate in relevant and meaningful literacy experiences as well as receiving a nutritious meal each day. AISD teachers receive a refresher or professional development opportunities while the HSU education majors experience mentoring from certified teachers in the field. It is a win-win opportunity for each person.
